GENERATIONS FROM EXILE TRIBE MAKE LONDON DEBUT AS PART OF WORLD TOUR 2015

GENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBE (that's a mouth full, let's call them GENERATIONS... still too long, let's go with GEN) will be taking to the road this June for their first world tour which will take them to Paris, London, Los Angeles, New York, Taipei and Hong Kong.

So, suffice to day, they're a pretty big deal.

GEN are currently performing across Japan for their 21-date nationwide portion of the tour and will kick off the string of international shows in Paris on Friday June 12th followed by their first ever UK performance in London on June 13th.

BABYMETAL JOIN METALLICA AND ALEXISONFIRE ON THE MAIN STAGE AT READING AND LEEDS 2015

2015 has already been a busy year for the three queens of metal, but that's not slowing them down any time soon, especially as the gruesome threesome have just announced they'll be taking over the main stage at Reading and Leeds festivals this August.

Obviously with this news the internet has sparked the same debate that took over threads across the web in 2014 as they made their UK debut on the main stage at Sonisphere, should BABYMETAL be sharing a stage with some of the biggest names in rock and metal, including Metallica, Bring Me The Horizon and Alexisonfire? Some commenters on the Reading Festival facebook page didn't take the announcement well.

“What the hell is this rubbish? They look like 11-years-olds playing dress up. This is supposed to be an English festival, we won't be able to understand anything they're saying!”

“It's a disappointment when this sort of dross is put on the main stage...looks like last year was my first and last Reading Festival.”

“Out of everyone they could have chosen to preform they f**king choose BABYMETAL. Now a bunch of f**king 12-14 year old emo kids are going to be walking around all day!”

Personally, we're on the side of music should be fun, and if you managed to witness what these girls and their killer backing band are capable of last year at either their two sold out London shows or Sonisphere, you know that these guys have it by the bucket load.

Here's what Jeff Walker, frontman of the UK's own metal pioneers Carcass had to say about BABYMETAL in an interview with Nuclear Blast Records.

"It's actually fun, you know, like GHOST. Some people get very reactionary about a band like GHOST or BABYMETAL. It puts a smile on people's faces. That's what music's about, isn't it?! Enjoying it and not being so serious."

If you agree with us and Jeff, then head over to www.ReadingFestival.com for more information.

JAPAN RISING RETURNS TO THE GREAT ESCAPE FESTIVAL THIS MAY - TAFFY, MOUMOON, PASSEPIED AND YOSI HORIKAWA

Every summer The Great Escape Festival brings the freshest in new music talents to the (sometimes) sunny shores of Brighton, and 2015 is certainly no different.

The Foundation for Promotion of Music Industry and Culture (PROMIC) have joined up with Japan Underground to showcase four of Japan's hottest up and comers, taffy, PASSEPIED, moumoon and Yosi Horikawa, who will make up this year's JAPAN RISING portion of the festival on Saturday May 16th at the Queens Hotel. Also, free sushi!

taffy
Taking inflences from British alternative music from 1980s to the late 90s, Tokyo based four piece taffy have been described as art-punk (247magazine) , shoegaze (Buzz), 90’s Britpop revival (NME), highly addictive (DiS) and so on. With three albums and four national UK headline tours under their belt, taffy have become one of the most sought after Japanese bands in Britain.

moumoon
Raised with classical music, YUKA and MASAKI met at a rock festival some ten years ago and shortly after created moumoon. Pop group by name, this duo covers various types of music from alternative rock to folk and indie rock. Their dynamic melodies designed by MASAKI are brought to life with YUKA's lyrics and vocals which bring scenery and story to each song. Recently, they have been holding live international performances in an attempt to showcase Japan’s high quality pop songs to the rest of the world.

PASSEPIED
Since forming in 2009, PASSEPIED have become a sensation in the Japanese music scene. Named after a composition by French composer Claude Debussy, their unique music style, crafted by keyboardist and founder Narita Haneda, lead them to being named by iTunes Japan as one of their 'Breakthrough artists of 2013' and selling out every show of their nationwide tour in 2013.

Yosi Horikawa
Producer Yosi Horikawa is a master of sound, incorporating nature into each of his tracks to create an exciting musique concrete version of electro beat. He recently performed at a number of top international festivals including Sonar, Mutek, Glastonbury and more.

For more information on TGE 2015 including ticket prices, head over to GreatEscapeFestival.com. While we wait, here's PASSEPIED's latest video for their new single 'TOKINOWA' out April 29th.

VAMPS, [ALEXANDROS], OKAMOTO'S AND LING TOSITE SIGURE ANNOUNCED FOR JAPAN NIGHT EVENT AT HYPER JAPAN 2015

Some of Japan's most renowned newcomers will be making their way to the UK this July to be part of the biggest all Japanese rock event the country has ever seen at this year's HYPER JAPAN festival.

Cooked up by the Federation Of Music Producers Japan and ad agency Dentsu, JAPAN NIGHT aims to bring Japanese music to the international stage with a series of concerts worldwide to promote some of the country’s top artists during the lead-up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

JAPAN NIGHT kicked off the string of events last year at Tokyo's National Olympic Stadium with electropop trio PERFUME, rock legends L’Arc-En-Ciel and more taking centre stage for a crowd of 120,000 people. Now it's coming to London to take over the indigo at The O2 as part of HYPER JAPAN 2015 for two shows with VAMPS and [Alexandros] playing alongside OKAMOTO'S on Friday and Ling Tosite Sigure on the Saturday.

Promoters of the event Robomagic's CEO Rob Hallett said in a statement, “We are proud to be chosen as the promoter of the 1st Japan Night in London and we will make sure that this will be a memorable concert for all Japanese music fans in London!”

Check out the live footage from L’Arc-En-Ciel set at last year's JAPAN NIGHT in Tokyo below.

THE TURTLES JAPAN - ELECTRONIC HUMANITY - REVIEW

WATERWEED RELEASE NEW EP 'ASHES' ON ITUNES

Debuting in 2007 with their EP 'Killing The Earth Means Our Suicide', Osaka born hardcore 4-piece waterweed are, in our mind, one of the best bands to sneak under the radar of the international hardcore scene for so many years.

Need a proper endorsement? Label brethren FACT have been backing the band for years, plugging their name in interviews as well as having them share the stage at their 15th anniversary Rock-O-Rama festival last year along with Ken Yokoyama, HER NAME IN BLOOD and many more.

In 2013 waterweed dropped their first album 'CICADA'. Fast, aggressive, and full on, this album tore us a new one (here, have a taste). Now, after a two year wait, they've made their comeback with an all new EP, 'Ashes'. Though their sound has been toned down a shade, with less of the unbridled aggression seen in their past work, waterweed truly delivered yet another stellar release with some of the best tracks of their career to date.

Pick up Ashes now on iTunes for a measly £4.99, and/or watch the guys play the EP live in its entirety on maximum10's YouTube channel.
