Yokohama, 1996, MC MACCHO formed the legendary hip hop duo OZROSAURUS. Now in 2015, four new members have been added to the roster, taking their notorious sound to the next level.
For nearly two decades, OZROSAURUS has been bringing the sound of hip hop to Japan, becoming one of the most successful duos in the genre the country has ever seen. But after a one off performance with rock band Yamaarashi (who are known their blend of metal, reggae, and rap), MC MACCHO decided it was time for a change and enlisted some of the biggest names in Japanese rock and metal.
OZROSARUS are now, TAKESHI of Yamaarashi on Bass, BUNTA from pop punk unit TOTALFAT on drums, YD of hardcore up-and-comers Crystal Lake on guitar, GUNHEAD of HABANERO POSSE as the track maker, with MACCHO and DJ SN-Z keeping their roles as MC and turntablist.
Despite the big leap, in an interview with FLJ Magazine, SN-Z assured long time fans that they themselves haven’t changed and that their classic tracks fit with the new style.
“OZROSAURUS became a band, but we haven’t changed at all. Our world hasn’t changed, but the tracks have more edge. You can expect us to make more diverse songs.”
In March the now sextet dropped their new single ‘MANDALA’, and it’s a scorcher. Pick it up now from iTunes if you know what’s good for you.
