After making their UK debut at the tail end of 2016, Violent Magic Orchestra are back for a one off headline set at London’s Black Heart this March.
Violent Magic Orchestra, a.k.a VMO, are an international experimental endeavour comprised of members from the Japanese black metal unit Vampillia, French electronic composer Paul Régimbeau (Mondkopf), and former member of Oregon noise duo Yellow Swans, Pete Swanson.
Sporting black duds and corpse paint, VMO’s sound is a harsh mix of black metal, noise, and euphoric electronica which dances on elements of industrial, drone, techno, and post rock. Last October the band released their 1st record Catastrophic Anonymous, a dizzying introduction to a group who is pushing the boundaries of black metal.
As well as their London performance, VMO will also be playing a set at this year’s BANGFACE WEEKENDER in Southport where they’ll be joining 11 other Japanese artists. BANGFACE is one of the UK’s biggest rave festivals devoted to everything from Acid to Techno.
