SABANNAMAN, the answer to what would happen if you combine some of American’s hottest rock talents and then put them at the the epicentre of Japan’s music scene.

Formed out of Tokyo in 2012, this young four-piece of early twenty bohemians have been turning heads with their all-embracing sound that fuses everything good about 90’s punk, funk, hip-hop, and reggae. Drawing inspiration from Japanese melodic hardcore acts like COKEHEAD HIPSTERS, BRAHMAN, and Hi-STANDARD, the band also looked to some of the west’s biggest names in the game including System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, and Red Hot Chili Peppers (their name being a homage to RHCP’s 1985 single Jungle Man).

In 2015 they played Fuji Rock Festival’s ROOKIE A GO-GO stage, and this year, after winning the festival’s Aim For the Main Stage contest by a landslide, played alongside UK acts Jack Garratt and Years & Years on the RED MARQUE main stage.

Last year the quartet released their killer 1st album MAGIC MUTANT under melodic hardcore three piece HAWAIIAN6’s label IKKI NOT DEAD, and earlier this month dropped their 1st mini album Psychedelic Sox Funk. Check out SABANNAMAN wearing their Chili Peppers fandom on the sleeves in their latest video for the slap bass heavy groove tune Light In Dark straight from the new album.
