Fujii Kaze will make his Bay Area debut this August as part of Outside Lands 2025. Beginning with a sold-out Night Show at Bimbo’s 365 Club on August 7th, he follows it up with a main festival set at Golden Gate Park on Friday August 8th. Both appearances are part of the FUJII KAZE EUROPE & NORTH AMERICA TOUR 2025, first announced in May.
Following his upcoming set at Lollapalooza 2025 in Chicago, the two Outside Lands dates will be his first Bay Area performances, extending his continued push into the US festival circuit. In 2024, he completed a successful North American tour, with sold-out stops in Los Angeles and New York. Known for his genre-spanning songwriting, improvisational flair, and a live style that fuses theatre, jazz musicianship, and emotional directness, Kaze has steadily grown an international following, earning recognition not just as a streaming force but as one of Japan’s most unpredictable and magnetic live performers.
Earlier this year, Kaze led the inaugural JAPAN MUSIC AWARDS with 17 nominations, taking home multiple top honours, including Album of the Year and Best Japanese Singer-Songwriter.
Part of the annual Outside Lands Night Shows series, Kaze’s August 7th performance at Bimbo’s 365 Club joins a slate of intimate after-hours gigs featuring acts from the festival bill, including Floating Points, Thundercat, and Black Coffee. The show sold out shortly after tickets went on sale today. He follows it with a festival set at Golden Gate Park the next day, offering a broader audience a glimpse of his genre-fluid live style. Known for mixing soul, funk, gospel, and classical elements with choreography, visual storytelling, and spontaneous crowd interaction, Kaze’s performances often defy traditional pop framework, well suited to both close-up settings and larger festival stages.
Set to arrive just weeks after Outside Lands, Kaze’s third studio album ‘Prema’ lands on September 5th. Featuring nine new tracks written entirely in English, it’s his most direct move toward international audiences yet. Lead single ‘Hachikō’, released on June 13th, was co-written in Los Angeles with Canadian songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr. and Washington D.C.-based producer Sir Nolan, and later refined with South Korean artist 250.
Japanese acts seldom appear in San Francisco outside of J-pop or anime-focused events, but his slot reflects a broader shift in how Japanese artists are being booked at major US festivals. In recent years, Coachella, Lollapalooza, SXSW, and Summerfest have featured names like ATARASHII GAKKO!, YOASOBI, Otoboke Beaver, PSYCHIC FEVER, and BABYMETAL, signalling a growing appetite for genre-diverse Japanese acts on American stages.

Now in its 17th year, Outside Lands returns to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park from August 8th – 10th with a lineup that spans chart-topping headliners, cult favourites, and rising artists. Tyler, The Creator, Hozier, and Doja Cat lead this year’s bill, alongside Vampire Weekend, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Jamie xx, and Gracie Abrams. The three-day festival has become a cornerstone of the Bay Area’s cultural calendar, known for pairing international acts with local food, art, and sustainability programming.
This year’s edition also marks the first since the passing of co-founder Jonathan Mayers, whose creative vision helped define the festival’s spirit and design. Past editions have featured artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala, and The 1975, with an emphasis on both legacy acts and new voices on the scene.
