About KAMIJO
KAMIJO is a Japanese vocalist, songwriter, and producer known for his contributions to visual kei’s aristocratic and symphonic traditions. After working as a roadie for MALICE MIZER, he established himself as the frontman of LAREINE in the mid-1990s, making his major-label debut with the band in 1999. In 2007, he co-founded Versailles with guitarist HIZAKI, combining elaborate European-inspired imagery with symphonic power metal, neoclassical guitar, and theatrical storytelling. The band developed an international following through releases and extensive overseas touring.
Following Versailles’ hiatus in 2012, KAMIJO launched his solo career in 2013, developing an interconnected fictional mythology influenced by French history, particularly Louis XVII and the French Revolution, alongside vampire folklore and gothic romance. Releases including ‘Symphony of the Vampire’ (2014), ‘OSCAR’ (2022), and ‘VIOLET DAWN’ (2024) demonstrate his approach to narrative-driven music, with orchestral arrangements, heavy metal, and expressive vocals extending into elaborate live productions. His work has also included collaborations with orchestras and voice actors, while his independent ventures, including Sherow Artist Society and Chateau Agency, have supported his activities as a producer and label operator.
In 2025, KAMIJO celebrated his 30-year career with the retrospective album ‘MASTERPIECE’ and a major concert at Tokyo’s LINE CUBE SHIBUYA before relocating to Los Angeles. He continues to pursue an international solo career alongside his activities with Versailles, with growing ambitions in cinematic music production and theatrical performance.
