Musyozoku

Musyozoku is a self-managed visual kei project formed by vocalist i and guitarist Rito following the disbandment of gulu gulu in March 2023. The full project name, I to Rito no Musyozoku, translates as “the independence of i and Rito”, in-keeping with the duo’s decision to operate outside of traditional label or management structures. Rito produces much of the band’s output, handling composition, recording, mixing, and programming, while i is the lyricist, vocalist, and visual director.

A menhera kei strain of visual kei that pairs heavy rock with gothic horror, Musyozoku draw from gothic rock, pairing heavy, often abrasive instrumentation with eerie melodies and unstable vocals. Their debut EP, ‘Gedatsu dekinai haikyo yuenchi’ (roughly translating to “An abandoned amusement park you can’t escape from”), arrived on January 1st 2026.
