About the venue

Brooklyn Paramount is a restored historic theatre and concert venue in Downtown Brooklyn, at Flatbush Avenue Extension and DeKalb Avenue. Designed by Rapp & Rapp, it opened on 24 November 1928 as a lavish movie palace and soon became a significant home for live music. Its stage welcomed jazz pioneers including Duke Ellington and later performers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly.

The theatre closed as an entertainment venue in 1962 and was converted for use by Long Island University, including as a basketball arena. Following an extensive restoration that retained its elaborate Baroque-style interior, the venue reopened for concerts in March 2024 under Live Nation. It now has a reported capacity of around 2,700 and combines historic architecture with contemporary concert production.

Brooklyn Paramount stands across the street from the DeKalb Avenue subway station, with Nevins Street also nearby. The venue uses mobile ticketing; visitors should consult its official website for current access, bag and accessibility policies.
