the cabs join The Great Escape 2026 line-up alongside first UK tour

Math-rock trio the cabs will play their first UK shows this May, alongside a newly confirmed appearance at The Great Escape 2026 in Brighton.

Their UK dates form the cabs’ first international tour since their formation in 2006, with headline shows in London, Manchester, Exeter and Bristol.

The tour follows the band’s return in 2025 after more than a decade away, having disbanded in 2013 following the release of their first full-length album ‘Saisei no Fukei’. Their reunion tour in Japan sold out across all dates, ending with a 3,000-capacity show at Toyosu PIT in Tokyo.

Originally formed by Yoshikatsu Shuto, Kunimitsu Takahashi, and Itta Nakamura, the cabs built a dedicated following within Japan’s underground alternative scene during the late 2000s. Their 2025 return saw a strong reaction from fans, with renewed attention from listeners outside Japan who had discovered the band through online communities in the early 2010s.

The band appear in The Great Escape Festival’s latest wave of additions, announced as part of its 20th anniversary programme. They join a bill of over 400 emerging artists set to perform across multiple venues in Brighton, with performance details expected closer to the event.

Beyond May, the cabs are also confirmed for Fuji Rock Festival ’26, performing on Sunday July 26th at Naeba Ski Resort alongside Massive Attack, Mogwai, American Football, and Mitski.
