Visual kei band Akai Yurei have “reincarnated” as Oideyo! Yureiz, just four months after making their debut on January 21st.
The transformation followed the band’s “disbandment and reincarnation” one-man live, Happy End wa sugu soko sa! (Happy End is Just Around the Corner!). The “reincarnation” was made official on June 1st with the release of Oideyo! Yureiz’s first EP, ‘STRAWBERRY ON THE SHORTCAKE’.
Back in April, the band’s previous incarnation released the music video for ‘Happy End’, in which the members are seemingly killed off, before a game over screen appears with the phrase “Happy End is just around the corner”. They announced their “disbandment and reincarnation” one-man Happy End wa sugu soko sa! for May 31st at Roppongi’s GT LIVE TOKYO.
On June 1st, Akai Yurei “reincarnated” as Oideyo! Yureiz, simultaneously releasing their first music video ‘Sugar Drill No Isho.’ and first EP, ‘STRAWBERRY ON THE SHORTCAKE’. The EP is available to stream now, with a separate instrumental version. The EP features 6 tracks, 5 of which are new mixes of every Akai Yurei song. Opener ‘Eureka’ is a brand new original instrumental track, which sets the scene for the rest of the listen. Meanwhile, ‘Sugar Drill No Isho.’ is currently only available on YouTube.
Along with their rebirth, the band revealed new looks.
