MONAKA, an up-and-coming independent alternative rock band, have released a teaser trailer for their 1st EP ‘MOTEL_404’. The EP is set to drop digitally on August 12th, ahead of their 1st oneman live show GOSSIP on August 29th.
‘MOTEL_404’ features four tracks with distinct personalities, each representing a different room. Opener ‘Whistle’ is a laid-back pop-rock track, followed by the jazz-rock-flavoured ‘Lingerie’, which was accompanied by a music video in June. Third track ‘Damage’ slows things back down with a gently melancholic rock vibe, while closer ‘Tokyo’ is a ska-punk-leaning romp filled with blaring horns and a skankable beat.
MONAKA assembled the tracklist with their first one-man concert in mind, moving between low-, mid- and high-tempo material to showcase the breadth of the band’s sound. Titled GOSSIP, the show takes place at Shibuya’s STAR LOUNGE, the sister venue to Chelsea Hotel in the same Udagawachō building. Tickets are available now via eplus (Japan only).
