Today, metal-idol group Broken By The Scream unveiled their newest track ‘Tsuioku no Nasuka’ (‘Reminiscence of Nazca’) along with a music video.
‘Tsuioku no Nasuka’ is a 14 minute epic, taking listeners on a journey through djent, jazz, metal, idol-pop, and more. The track allows the group’s musicians to shine with chunks dedicated to the instrumentals, hammering home the wild diversity of the song. Scream vocalists Yayoi and Io are complemented by clean vocalists Tsubaki and Shizuku, combining the forces of metal and idol. The track is full of surprising moments, waltzing between the group’s usual metalcore and djent leanings, into almost stage musical-like parts, and even a jazzy breakdown partway through.
The band’s producer, Electro Sonar (Katsuya Kumamoto), stated:
“I created this 14-minute-and-20-second epic together with Masaya Suzuki, my senior at the agency and my mentor in DTM! Ever since I heard that short songs were trending, I spent two years planning and one year producing this. It was tough, but I’m confident in how it turned out!”
Filming for the music video was a gruelling task; a 13 hour shoot, from morning until night. In a post on X, the band’s support bassist Shishou said:
“BBTS’s new song being 14 minutes and 20 seconds long is crazy enough, but what’s even crazier is that filming the music video took 13 hours straight, from morning till night. In a sauna-like environment with no air conditioning, I was boiling red, but the members were dancing with totally calm faces, it’s insane! The filming location might look familiar, so make sure to watch the MV!!”
Plus, Broken By The Scream are set to release their 4th full album on August 13th. Titled ‘Solar Strain’, the album will feature 11 songs, with ‘Tsuioku no Nasuka’ placed as the closing track. Vocalist Io noted in a post on X:
“10 out of 11 songs are new, and there’s one song that’s 14 and a half minutes long. The new album from the too-metal metal idols…it’s coming!!!!!!!”
The group will also embark upon their largest European tour yet, SCREAMING INFERNO, next week. Starting on June 25th in Helsinki, BBTS will hit 7 countries across 9 dates. This includes a slot at Spain’s Resurrection Fest on June 27th and France’s Japan Expo on July 4th. Broken By The Scream will be sharing the main stage at Resurrection Fest with DEVILOOF, Tesseract, and more. Other acts confirmed for the festival include Crossfaith, Slipknot, Jinjer, and a whole host of other metal mainstays.
