Kenshi Yonezu returns to the Chainsaw Man franchise with ‘IRIS OUT’, the theme song for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. MAPPA announced the film during their panel at Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles, where they also premiered the main trailer featuring the track.
Written and composed by Yonezu, the new track is his second collaboration with the anime adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s best-selling manga. His previous contribution, ‘KICK BACK’, the opening theme for the TV anime in 2022, became a global hit. The track spent 21 consecutive weeks at No.1 on Billboard JAPAN’s anime chart, amassed over 190 million views on YouTube, and surpassed 500 million streams globally. It also became the first Japanese-language track in history to earn a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.

‘IRIS OUT’ follows that legacy with renewed attention, arriving as the central song for the upcoming film adaptation of the Reze Arc. The arc introduces Reze, voiced by Reina Ueda, a mysterious girl whose relationship with Denji quickly takes a dramatic turn. The film picks up where the anime series left off, promising the same intense action and slick, stylised animation that defines MAPPA’s work.
Yonezu commented on the new work, stating:
“It’s a great privilege to continue my musical involvement from the TV anime series to the film. I kept the Reze scenes from the original manga open around the clock, glaring at the pages as I worked on the song. I hope you enjoy it.”
Directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara and scripted by Hiroshi Seko, the film is scheduled for release in Japan on September 19th 2025, followed by international screenings in over 50 countries and territories from October 29th.
Further details regarding the release of ‘IRIS OUT’ have yet to be announced.
