MANON unleashes punk-electro single ‘Nisemono smillin’

Fukuoka-born artist MANON has released her latest single ‘Nisemono smillin’, now streaming worldwide. The track dropped on Friday, September 19th, with its music video directed by Shota Tsuji premiering the same evening.

After May’s ‘Chigau Taipu’ with Linna Figg, MANON moves into heavier territory on ‘Nisemono smillin’. Teaming with knoak, she fuses the rush of melodic punk with electronic textures for a 2000s edge. Lyrically, she zeroes in on false smiles and the static of daily life, channeling the frustrations of a generation caught in standstill.

The video, directed by Shota Tsuji, places MANON in street settings that echo its confrontational tone. Known for work rooted in hip-hop and street culture, Tsuji frames her presence with the same fast-paced and aggressive energy that drives the track.

To celebrate the single, MANON launched her own event series PINK NOISE at ENTER Shibuya on September 20th. The debut night brought together a line-up including knoak, Sugar High, ViDA, orbtlstrk, Ryosuke Shinoda (Top Secret Man), and Galaxy Chinchilla, presenting the event as a new platform for rising underground talent.

At just 21, MANON has already built a reputation that crosses both music and fashion. She has worked with artists such as dodo, LEX, and Hiroshi Fujiwara, as well as London-based pop outfit Kero Kero Bonito. Alongside her music, she continues to work as a model and is part of the creative collective bala.

‘Nisemono smillin’ is out now on major streaming platforms.
