On January 31st, Tokyo rapper Tee Shyne announced his first album by climbing up to All-Nippon News Network’s live camera overlooking Shibuya Scramble Crossing and taking over its YouTube livestream, watched by viewers around the world.
Climbing into frame via a stepladder, wobbling as his announcement blared from a Bluetooth speaker with a shaky connection, Tee Shyne hijacked the Shibuya Scramble Crossing livestream, holding up a promotional flyer for the album and responding to messages in the chat.
The day before, he had prepped his followers on social media by posting a screenshot of the feed with the message, “There will be a major announcement here tomorrow at 20:00”. The post racked up more than three million views ahead of the stunt.

But who is Tee Shyne?
Born in 2003 and raised in Shibuya, Tee Shyne has been labelled online by some as a meiwaku-kei (nuisance-type) rapper. He calls himself “the biggest problem child in the scene” and, in a Natalie interview last year, described a career spurred by slander, venue trouble and real-life confrontations around his shows. He also credited ABEMA’s long-running audition programme RAPSTAR with giving him his start, even while attacking it in his music.
First breaking out through the 2024 and 2025 seasons of RAPSTAR, he reached the SELECTION CYPHER stage each time but failed to advance. After his 2024 elimination, he released ‘RAPSTAR DIS’, a track that criticised the show and directly referenced judge ralph’s on-air “try harder” comment. Following his 2025 elimination, Tee Shyne announced he was retiring from music. The retirement lasted only weeks, and he returned with ‘RAPSTAR DIS 2’, name-checking every judge and arguing the anger wasn’t just his (“the fans are pissed too, look at the comment section”), before claiming the show’s bosses were “making bank” off the drama.
Tee Shyne’s “comeback” diss ‘RAPSTAR DIS 2’, released after his RAPSTAR 2025 elimination, with shots aimed at every judge, including kZm, R-Shitei (Creepy Nuts), ZOT on the WAVE, OMSB, SEEDA, and Benjazzy.
Since then, his online activity has followed a similar line, entertaining disses from bigger names, alluding to his CUTIE STREET classmate Emiru Kawamoto in social media posts, and sharing photos of himself smoking from an ABEMA mascot-shaped water bottle turned bong.
As with much of his career so far, the “Scramble jack” divided opinion. Some viewers loved the nerve, while others questioned whether it crossed a line, asking, “Wouldn’t this count as some kind of crime?”, “Did he get permission?”, and warning that “stuff like this is going to hurt hip-hop’s reputation”.
Tee Shyne’s debut album, ‘Different Shyne’, lands on February 4th. His first nationwide solo tour follows from February 13th, opening with a sold-out Tokyo date before heading to Sendai, Nagoya, Osaka, Sapporo, and Fukuoka, then returning to Tokyo on March 12th for a finale at SHIBUYA DIVE.
