“Dark fairytale” visual kei band Dolly make their return with 11th single ‘Un, deux, trois’

Art kei VK band Dolly have made their long-awaited return with ‘Un, deux, trois’. It’s their 11th single, and first in 4 years. It released both physically and digitally on July 22nd, along with a music video.

‘Un, deux, trois’ is a fast-paced cabaret-like rock track, with an invitingly danceable chorus. Vocalist Mitsu sings a fairytale to us, referencing Cinderella with her pumpkin carriage, and the lost glass slipper, before the magic melts away from her.

The single follows the band’s 2022 disbandment, their Nemureru Keisou no Memento Mori 20th anniversary concerts last year, and the opening of Dolly’s official fanclub, Bonnie, on January 1st this year. Dolly state they’ve “made a full comeback”, and that this is “the start of a new story that will capture the essence of ‘Dolly in its current state'”.

The CD single is available in both regular and limited editions. The regular version includes the title track plus ‘SCRAP BULLET [7DAYS]‘ and an instrumental version of ‘Un, deux, trois’. The limited version includes the title track, a re-recording of ‘Kuroneko CATHERINE’, and an M-card with the music video. Meanwhile, the digital release features ‘Un, deux, trois’, ‘SCRAP BULLET [7DAYS]’, and ‘Kuroneko CATHERINE’.

In June, Dolly released a DVD of their 20th anniversary concept live, Nemureru Keiso no Memento Mori ‘Deep Sleep Sheep…’, originally part of a limited-time comeback. The DVD captures the show held at the iconic Tokyo KINEMA Club, and also includes a 20th anniversary memorial digital artist photo on an M-Card.

As well as this, the band have uploaded all of their previous music videos to their official YouTube channel.

Dolly have also announced a oneman show at Spotify O-WEST on October 26th, Kaimaku -unfreeze-, roughly translating to Revolving Curtain -unfreeze-, alluding to their circus and theatre theming, and “unfreezing” from their disbandment. More details will be announced at a later date.

About Dolly

Dolly formed in 2005, gaining support for their fantastical and decadent "dark fairytale" worldview and poignant, beautiful melodies. The band's lineup is vocalist Mitsu, guitarists Masa and Yuina, bassist Hachi, and drummer Tsuguki. With stage productions reminiscent of fairytales and circuses, along with heartfelt songs, they exuded a unique presence and vividly coloured the visual kei scene of the 2000s.They made their major debut in 2009, but suspended activities in 2012. After a limited reunion in 2022, they disbanded once again. In 2025, they announced limited activities with a concept live series Nemureru Hotaru Mado no Memento Mori to celebrate their 20th anniversary, putting an end to their activities with the final performance "Deep Sleep Sheep…". In 2026, Dolly have made a full comeback, releasing 'Un, Deux, Trois' on July 22nd, and will hold a oneman live at Spotify O-WEST on October 26th.
