Kuromi, the long-standing Sanrio character known for her punk sensibility and mischievous charm, is officially entering the music industry as “KUROMI”. Her first EP, ‘KUROMI IN MY HEAD’, is set for release on October 22nd through TOY’S FACTORY, officially launching her career under a major label.
The announcement comes as Kuromi celebrates her 20th anniversary, having first appeared in the 2005 anime Onegai My Melody as My Melody’s rival. While she previously dipped into music with the 2021 single ‘Greedy Greedy’, released under the KUROMIfy the World Project, this EP represents her first full-scale music venture.
‘KUROMI IN MY HEAD’ will feature five tracks shaped by a varied production team that includes Shuichi Mabe (Widescreen Baroque, VMO), Hidefumi Kenmochi (WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA), Daoko (QUBIT), Kairiki Bear, Satomi Shigemori, and lilbesh ramko.
Alongside the EP, KUROMI will embark on her first release tour. Billed as a 3D live performance, the shows will feature KUROMI moving freely on stage in her digital form. Tour dates and venue details are expected to be announced soon via her official staff account on X. The physical release of the EP will include a priority ticket application for the tour.
The rollout is accompanied by KUROMI’s “Artist Debut Declaration”, a self-penned mission statement expressing ambitious goals that include headlining the Budokan, Tokyo Dome, and eventually Madison Square Garden.

Her official TikTok account is gradually sharing behind-the-scenes footage of the EP’s creation, rehearsals, and production meetings, showing KUROMI’s transition from pop culture icon to recording artist.
