Several artists have long-standing personal links with the band. Kenshi Yonezu first met RADWIMPS as a guest on the opening day of their 2015 joint-band tour 10th ANNIVERSARY LIVE TOUR RADWIMPS no Taiban, while DISH// frontman Takumi Kitamura starred in the original ‘Keitai Denwa’ music video back in middle school. Hanaregumi previously collaborated with Yojiro Noda onstage and in the studio, and Hiroji Miyamoto personally selected ‘Oshakashama’ after years of admiration. My Hair is Bad, Mrs. GREEN APPLE, and iri each chose songs tied closely to their own youth.
‘Dear Jubilee -RADWIMPS TRIBUTE-‘ arrives in the middle of the RADWIMPS 20th ANNIVERSARY LIVE TOUR, a 17-date arena tour in support of their latest album ‘Anew’. The tour’s three Yokohama Arena shows from November 22nd to 24th feature BUMP OF CHICKEN, Vaundy, and YOASOBI, further linking the tribute line-up with RADWIMPS’ current live activity.

Full artist comments (English)

1. 25kome No Senshokutai – Mone Kamishiraishi
“I used to write lyrics in the margins of my high school class notes. I practiced rapping in the bathroom. I learned how cool instruments could be, and the stylishness of Japanese and English. If the me from back then knew about the connection I have now, she would absolutely scream.
I sang with gratitude. Congratulations on your 20th anniversary!!”

2. Saidai Kouyakusuu – SEKAI NO OWARI
“After receiving the offer, I talked with Noda-kun on the phone.
To be honest, we actually haven’t met that many times. I’d like to take this opportunity to go out for lunch or something, as one of the few musicians the same age.
Congratulations on your 20th anniversary.”Fukase (SEKAI NO OWARI)

3. Tremolo – Kenshi Yonezu
“When I was a humble high school student in the countryside, RADWIMPS was a band that suddenly appeared before me and made a huge impact. From those days up to now, I don’t think I’ve ever heard the phrase “ningen senjōki” (human washing machine) anywhere outside of a RADWIMPS song, and I was immediately struck by their music, in which such originality bursts out one after another.
In the first band I ever formed in my life, we covered ‘Setsunarensa’ and performed it live, but I was so nervous that the BPM shot up by about 50, and I clearly remember how it unintentionally turned into a performance that felt like testing the limits of my physical endurance. In the end, I wasn’t able to continue music in the form of a band, but now I strongly feel that I’m glad I kept making music, no matter the form.”

4. Futarigoto – iri
“First of all, congratulations on your 20th major debut anniversary. Thank you always for giving me so much inspiration, emotion, and nourishment for the heart.
I still vividly remember listening to ‘RADWIMPS 4 ~Okazu no Gohan~’ through a friend’s earphones when I was in middle school. There are many songs that remind me of my youth, but even now, I feel that nothing brings that time back more vividly to me than RADWIMPS’s music.
This time, I had the opportunity to sing ‘Futarigoto’, a song that holds those memories. I know it is also a precious song filled with many memories for everyone. I was worried I might ruin it, but while looking back on those days, I sang it as someone who has grown a little older, now wrapped in a different scenery than before.
Here’s to continuing on together with RADWIMPS from here on out!”

5. Yūshinron – ZUTOMAYO
“To me, ‘Yūshinron’ is like a small room where I can secretly have a dialogue with my own heart. That time was my only salvation, and it protected me with its warmth, letting me feel that it was okay not to leave. Because of that, I was able to go in and out of everyday life.
Since my student days, the distrustful person and the trusting person within me have always been at odds, and that self-questioning still continues even now, but I think I’ve become more forward-looking in order to keep living.‘Yūshinron’ is an astounding song. I already knew that, but working on it made me feel it even more intensely.
This is the first time I’ve recorded and left behind a track that isn’t self-written, and as ZUTOMAYO, I poured my heart into it with a fully human, full-body, pulse-pounding jam-band feel.
I am truly grateful for this opportunity.
Sending love from white blood cells, red blood cells, and everything else.”ACA-ne (ZUTOMAYO)

6. Iindesuka? – My Hair is Bad
“RADWIMPS, congratulations on your 20th anniversary. Being entrusted with ‘Iindesuka?’, such a precious song, was above all an honor, and because of that, I was very nervous…
I believe this song holds the life-sized memories of people all across Japan and all across the world. But I felt that what sits at the center of all of them is surely “love”, so I arranged it with my own form of love, making sure not to lose the warmth and affection of the song. And by facing it again, I felt even more respect.
I hope RADWIMPS’ music continues on forever from here!”Tomomi Shiiki (My Hair is Bad)

7. Oshakashama – Hiroji Miyamoto
“When I received the offer to cover RADWIMPS this time, I was truly nervous, and also very happy.
I personally requested to cover this song, ‘Oshakashama’. I had always loved it, but I had never listened to it this analytically before—the world of the song, the world of the lyrics, the intricacy and the sense behind the choice of words. The more I sang it, the more I came to like this song
and Noda-san as a singer.
I put my heart into it, and within my own work, I was able to enjoy it immensely. Including the experimental elements, this was truly a fun opportunity. I’m proud of this cover. I really want everyone to hear it.”

8. Keitai Denwa – DISH//
“Looking back, it was when I was in my first year of middle school.
At that time, I didn’t have the room to enjoy my work or even the mental space to listen to music, and I feel like loneliness had a hold over me.
This time, when I received the offer from RADWIMPS, I felt like I wanted to save that lonely boy I once was, and I sang with my gratitude to RADWIMPS in mind as well.
What a wonderful connection this is. Above all, I’m truly a lucky person.”Takumi Kitamura (DISH//)

9. Kyōshinshō – Mrs. GREEN APPLE
“Congratulations on your 20th anniversary.
If letters, or math, took the form of music, I think it would be something as intricately constructed as RADWIMPS—that was the shock I felt as a middle school student, and they became a huge presence for me.
They taught me the joy of instruments, the difficulty of being in a band, what it means for a song to live inside a person, and the many powers that words can hold—a truly great presence.
We agonized over the offer. Because RAD flows in our blood, we wondered whether it was right for us, as we are now, to participate, or whether not participating might also be a way of returning that love. But then we thought there may be love that won’t be conveyed unless it’s expressed. So we put in our greatest love and respect. I vividly remember when ‘Kyōshinshō’ was first released—the CD jacket, the inside artwork, that first shock that even felt frightening. Now that we’re adults, we poured our hearts into turning that into our own sound.
Thank you for protecting and carrying the name RADWIMPS for all this time. Once again, congratulations on the 20th anniversary.”

10. DARMA GRAND PRIX – Yorushika
“When I was in middle school, after seeing the symbolic final scene of the ‘Manifesto’ music video on YouTube, I worried that Yojiro-san had really been shot and asked my older sister to confirm. I borrowed my siblings’ 3rd–5th RADWIMPS band score books and often played around copying the guitar phrases.
When I reached high school and had grown able to somewhat distinguish between reality and fiction, ‘Batsu to Maru to Tsumi’ to was released. I was deeply captivated by its refined worldbuilding, which didn’t lose the sharpness of the previous work. ‘DARMA GRAND PRIX’ was my favourite of them all.
In participating in the tribute, I tried to avoid changing the instrumentation as much as possible. I aimed to make full use of the original arrangement while creating something that would naturally happen if Yorushika were the band performing it. Presumptuous as it may be, I hope it can become one alternate answer to this song.”n-buna (Yorushika)

11. Kaishin no Ichigeki – YOASOBI (with PLUSONICA)
“Congratulations on your 20th anniversary. Since our teenage years, we’ve been captivated by many of RADWIMPS’ songs, and as musicians, we’ve continued to chase after them. So, we are truly honored and delighted to be able to take part in this milestone tribute album.
‘Kaishin no Ichigeki’ is a very special song, one that ikura covered in a band during her high school years and holds deep feelings for. This time, with help from everyone in PLUSONICA, we covered it with a rearrangement filled with YOASOBI’s own affection and respect. We hope many people will enjoy it.”

12. Zenzenzense – Vaundy
“Congratulations on your 20th major debut anniversary.
It’s an honor to be able to sing this song in this way, a song that shook the world when I was in high school. I arranged the cover with the image of waking up from the dream of listening to ‘Zenzenzense’ and rising once more in a different place. I hope you enjoy it.
I’m always moved by the way RADWIMPS continues to pioneer new frontiers.”

13. Sokkenai – Hanaregumi
“Congratulations on your 20th anniversary!
I’m honored to have been invited to take part in this tribute album. It takes resolve to sing Yojiro’s words, which are so full of life and passion. They make me feel like my present self is being laid completely bare.
But that makes me happy; the feeling of being alive! It races throughout my whole body.”

14. Suzume – Hayato Sumino
“I’m very happy to have been invited as the only pianist. I think I first came to like RADWIMPS when I was in sixth grade. During my middle and high school years, I covered many of their songs on drums as well. If the me from back then knew about this, he would jump up in shock.
My connection with Yojiro-san began two years ago when I was invited to see RADWIMPS’ live show in New York. Around that time, I watched the film Suzume, and carried by that emotion, I wanted to try playing ‘Suzume’ on the piano myself. I created a cover under the concept of “on the other side of the piano’s mirrored surface, another world spreads out”, and uploaded it to YouTube.
This time, I recorded it anew, building upon that idea. I aimed for words to rise from each and every note of the piano.”
