GUMMY, a new supergroup, have appeared on the scene, unveiling their first music video. Made up of members from visual kei acts Merry, deadman, Pierrot, and Fukuro, the band made their surprise launch on January 21st with a 30 minute live performance during Battle Chimera vol.6 at Otsuka Hearts+ in Tokyo.
The first music video from GUMMY, titled ‘Kōri no ketsumatsu’ (‘Ice Ending’), sees the band performing in a small live house. Each band member is decked out in glam punk styled outfits, matching the punk tone of their sound.
The members are no strangers to the music industry, with collective decades of experience behind them. This new band will show fans a different side to the artists, with new looks, and some even taking new names for the project.
Vocals – Gara
Merry frontman Gara joins GUMMY as vocalist, his iconic vibrato voice lending itself to the band’s melodic punk vibe. The band’s website lists his favourite cigarettes as glo HYPER neo Arctic Menthol and ploom MEVIUS BLACK COLD MENTHOL. His favourite perfumes are HERMES and Garden of the Nile.
Guitar – Mad Dangerous
aie of deadman and gibkiy gibkiy gibkiy joins GUMMY as their guitarist, Mad Dangerous. His favourite cigarettes are American Spirit Turquoise, and his favourite perfume is Diptyque’s cedar and tobacco based scent Orpheon.
Bass – KOHTA
Pierrot bassist KOHTA joins as GUMMY’s bassist. His favourite cigarettes are Lucky Strike, and his favourite perfume is Dolce and Gabbana’s Sicilian lemon and cedarwood scent, Light Blue.
Drums – Lotty
Known as Lotto in Fukuro, he rounds out GUMMY’s lineup as their drummer, Lotty. He lists his favourite cigarettes as #16 Dark Chocolate Choice, while his favourite perfume is Jo Malone Vetiver and Golden Vanilla.
The band will hold their solo live debut on March 7th at Shinjuku Loft. Tickets go on sale from February 14th, only via eplus.
