AKASAKI to become youngest Japanese male solo artist to hold a world tour

AKASAKI will become the youngest Japanese male solo artist in history to embark on a world tour. The 19-year-old singer-songwriter announced AKASAKI 1st World Tour “ONIGIRI” on July 23rd during last YOUNG, his final solo concert as a teenager, at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA in Tokyo.

The 11-city tour opens on October 15th at Max Watts in Melbourne before travelling through Sydney, Paris, Cologne, London, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Taipei. It then returns home for Zepp shows in Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo between December 26th and January 3rd. The announcement follows his record-setting Asian tour last November and December, which made him the youngest Japanese solo artist to complete one.

Speaking about the tour, AKASAKI commented:

“This is a major challenge for me as well. While doing everything I can to deliver what only the person I am now can deliver, I want to see the sights of the world and grow even further as an artist.”

During the show, AKASAKI also announced that he had made his major-label debut with UNIVERSAL MUSIC’s EMI Records that very day, releasing his first major single ‘Ton Chin Kan’ digitally alongside its music video. Shibuya’s outdoor screens and digital signage were taken over by the artist as the song went live.

Six months in the making, ‘Ton Chin Kan’ blends a nostalgic city-pop sound with contemporary internet music.

“‘Ton Chin Kan’ is a song that depicts my true feelings and determination! I poured what I want to do from here, what kind of worldview I want to convey, and what I want to expand into the tones and energy of the instruments! For those who have known AKASAKI up to now, it should feel a little fresh, yet somehow nostalgic. With this song, I am marking another turning point and becoming something new, so please keep watching me from here on out!!”

Tickets for the European shows go on sale on Wednesday, August 5th at 12pm local time via Onion Production. Fan club advance applications for the Japan dates are open now through August 11th.

About AKASAKI

AKASAKI is a Japanese singer-songwriter who began writing music as a teenager, teaching himself guitar at 16 using an instrument belonging to his father. In September 2023, he started posting acoustic performances and original compositions on TikTok while attending secondary school. His early material drew attention for its memorable melodies, conversational lyrics, and influences ranging from guitar-led J-pop to city pop and older Japanese popular music. AKASAKI has cited Vaundy as an inspiration for his approach to songwriting, particularly his willingness to experiment with different musical styles. He generally writes melodies before lyrics, sometimes developing songs from imagined stories rather than personal experiences. He released his debut single, 'Hikikomori', in April 2024, followed by 'Drifting' and 'Kajitsu'. His fourth single, 'Bunny Girl', became his breakthrough after a short acoustic performance went viral on TikTok that July. Released in full on 2nd October 2024, the song reached No. 5 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and went on to surpass 200 million streams. Its success was particularly remarkable given that AKASAKI was still 18 and had been releasing music professionally for less than a year. The track also attracted listeners overseas, with subsequent English-language and remix versions further expanding its reach. AKASAKI performed his first headline concert at Shibuya WWW in March 2025, shortly before graduating from secondary school. He continued releasing singles throughout the year, including 'Predator', 'Kiss Kiss Kiss', and 'Tsuretette', the latter written as the theme for the animated film ALL YOU NEED IS KILL. His first Asian tour, KONNICHIWA, followed in November and December, with concerts in Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan, alongside an appearance at Hong Kong's Clockenflap festival. The tour concluded with a headline performance at KT Zepp Yokohama, a considerable step up from his first solo show earlier that year. In 2026, AKASAKI contributed 'Shake Na Baby' as the ending theme for the television anime Marriage Toxin and released his debut album, 'last YOUNG', on 15th July. The 30-track, two-disc collection brought together songs written during his teenage years, including remastered earlier releases and ten new recordings. Eight days later, he made his major-label debut through Universal Music's EMI Records with 'Ton Chin Kan', announcing the move during a headline concert at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA. His planned ONIGIRI world tour was subsequently cancelled in August 2026. Having progressed from recording songs in his bedroom to performing internationally in less than three years, AKASAKI continues to write and release music alongside his university studies.
