Cö shu Nie unleash long-awaited ‘ANAAKI ANANKE’ and new album ‘SATURATED (in monochrome)’

Rock band Cö shu Nie have released the music video for ‘ANAAKI ANANKE’ alongside ‘SATURATED (in monochrome)’, their fourth full-length album and first released through independent label RVRNC.

‘ANAAKI ANANKE’ is a heavy, dirty rock track driven by distorted vocals, addictive guitar hooks, and an erratic beat. Written by frontwoman Miku Nakamura, the song alludes to the experience of standing out in a world where people are expected to fit in. The song takes a turn after the breakdown, knocking the tune up a notch, becoming higher and more urgent, with Nakamura’s almost-yelled words packing a massive punch.

The track has been long-awaited by fans, with many requesting an official release after a one-chorus version was shared on social media several years ago. It was eventually completed for ‘SATURATED (in monochrome)’ and selected as the album’s lead track.

Directed and edited by Kaz Skellington, the video shows Nakamura being interrogated by strange, uniformed, egg-headed beings. Skellington also designed the masks, while styling was handled by Nakamura and Skellington.

‘SATURATED (in monochrome)’

Released digitally on the same day, ‘SATURATED (in monochrome)’ is Cö shu Nie’s fourth full-length album.

The concept album is set in a standardised monochrome world, following people as they rediscover their existence, individuality and personal colour. Its title plays on the different meanings of “saturated”, including becoming immersed in something, possessing vivid colour and producing a distorted sound.

Released through RVRNC, the independent label established by Nakamura and Skellington in 2025, the record is described as the group’s heaviest work to date. It places a greater focus on drop-tuned guitar and bass riffs and distortion, paired with Nakamura’s delicate and, at times, wild vocals.

The album contains 10 tracks, including closing song ‘evergreen’, which incorporates the voices of fans recorded during an official Communie fan club performance in February.

Nakamura said of the album:

“The album I’ve been working on since launching RVRNC is finally being released. I challenged myself with new sounds, creating a more progressive and heavy work than ever before. While retaining the strengths of our past, I poured everything I can do now into it! Please listen to this album, which I meticulously crafted, including its concept!”
