About DURAN
DURAN is the stage name of Japanese-Filipino guitarist, singer and songwriter Naito Duran Haruhisa. He first came to prominence as a member of LDH J-rock outfit The ROOTLESS, joining in 2009 for both their indie and Avex debuts before leaving in 2013. A short stint with Tokyo blues rock unit a flood of circle followed, and in 2016 he became a founding member of RED DIAMOND DOGS alongside EXILE’s Atsushi, Phekoo, and Fuyu.
Duran launched his solo career in 2017 with the album ‘Face’, collaborating with artists such as B’z’s Koshi Inaba, Kiyoharu, and Exile Atsushi. Over the following years, the DURAN name became attached to a series of stylistically varied albums, from psychedelic rock (‘Kaleido Garden’, 2021) to avant-garde (‘Electric Man’, 2023) and blues (’30 Scratchy Backroad Blues’, 2024).
By 2025 DURAN was no longer seen as a solo project but as a three-piece band with MASAE on bass and Shiho on drums. The trio had already been performing together for years, with highlights including a sold-out Shibuya Spotify O-East show in 2021, a packed Ebisu LIQUIDROOM in 2024, a tour in France, and an eight-date headline run in the Philippines.
Outside of his own releases, Duran has appeared on some of Japan’s biggest stages. Recently he joined Fujii Kaze on his international tours, as well as Kaze’s support slot for Billie Eilish at Saitama Super Arena in August 2025, and toured with VAUNDY on his little punk run earlier the same year.
